Using AI in pharmacy research
Our example follows a pharmacist-led antimicrobial review from question to evaluation and teaching. You can substitute a question from your own practice.
Our worked question
Among adult hospital antimicrobial treatment episodes, does introducing a pharmacist-led review process change the proportion with a review documented within 72 hours?
This is a fictional service and dataset for learning. It does not describe actual patients or demonstrate a real intervention effect.
Do not enter patient records, identifiers, confidential institutional information or unpublished material into an AI tool. For real projects, follow your organisation's approved tools and governance processes; removing names alone does not necessarily make data anonymous.
Use a tool you already have
Explore named tools including Consensus and Gemini Notebook, or use general prompts in an AI assistant you already have. Follow the worked examples if a tool is unavailable: no new account is required to take part.
No access or connection?
Follow the worked examples and make notes on paper. The guide and files can be opened offline once downloaded; live AI, PubMed and external references need internet access.
How to work: start with a prompt, inspect the answer, improve it, and check it independently. AI helps produce a draft; you remain responsible for decisions and outputs.
